BOYS DO CRY
Ellen McDermott & Asher TessierToo often, mainstream media depicts transgender people from a scope focusing on grieving rather than celebration. With this work we wanted to provide a more holistic perspective- focusing both on losses and gains and ultimately being an intimate and celebratory piece. After speaking with Alexander, Jack, and Asher, the immense, positive influence that Los Angeles had on their growth became clear. The city provided a sense of acceptance which was not present at their hometowns- motivating L.A to be kept as the heartbeat to our visual narrative.
